William Saliba and Martin Odegaard are both through to the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup following Monday’s results.

Saliba played 90 minutes of France’s 3-0 win over Iraq in the heavy rain at Philadelphia Stadium, making seven defensive contributions and recording a pass accuracy of 95%.

Kylian Mbappe fired France into a 14th-minute lead, and, after a two-hour half-time break due to bad weather, lightning struck twice as he netted his brace nine minutes into the second half, before Ousmane Dembele made it three.

France are now top of Group I with with six points from two matches, only ahead of second-placed Norway on goal difference.

Norway were also a goal up at half-time in their 3-2 win over Senegal, Marcus Pederson giving them the lead.

Our club captain setup Erling Haaland with an incisive through ball for 2-0 early in the second half before Senegal pulled one back by way of Ismaila Sarr.

Haaland and Sarr both grabbed another goal each in the second half as Norway progressed to the last 32.

Odegaard and co enjoyed a Norwegian viking row celebration at the end of the game!

Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions are back in action with a 9pm kick-off against Ghana, with Declan Rice, Noni Madueke, Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze all looking for back-to-back wins.
